Hi Everyone! Today I am going to talk about some amazing benefits and uses of curd for hair and skin. Curd is an incredible pro biotic with numerous health benefits and also helps in achieving radiant skin and shiny hair. It is full of calcium, potassium, magnesium, proteins and vitamins and helps in healthy digestion and improves immunity. It is also a great Ingredient for weight loss and helps in the development of strong bones and teeth.

Besides all these health benefits curd also helps you to achieve healthy skin and hair. Its antibacterial and antifungal properties helps in many skin and hair related problems. Here are 10 astonishing benefits and uses of curd for hair and skin.

1. Removes Dandruff

No one likes dandruff and the itchiness caused because of it but it keeps coming back again and again especially in winters. Dandruff is nothing but fungus and dead skin present on your scalp. Curd has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties due to which it is able to fight with the dandruff. It is my favorite solution for removing severe dandruff. Simply just take 4-5 tbsp of curd(or according to your hair length) and apply it all over your scalp. Leave for at least half an hour and then wash it off using some mild shampoo. You can also add some lemon juice also if you are experiencing some really serious dandruff.

2. Makes hair healthy and shiny

Curd is rich in zinc and protein which stimulates blood flow in your scalp. It also deeply nourishes and moisturizes your hair and works as a natural conditioner for hair. Take one cup of curd and add 1-2 eggs in it along with some almond oil or olive oil or coconut oil ( any oil of your choice). Mix them well and apply this nourishing mixture to your hair for half an hour and then wash using a mild shampoo. This mixture will give a shine and bounce to your hair. You can also add 2-3 tbsp of honey to this mixture. Honey reduces damage, breakage and thickens your hair and provides nourishment.

3. Removes Tan

Curd has high content of lactic acid which helps to treat hyper-pigmentation, age spots, dull and uneven complexion. It also has fats present in it which ensures that moisture is locked into the skin and helps in keeping skin hydrated for longer. You can simply take 1 tbsp of curd and apply it all over your face massaging gently for 5 minutes and then wash it off whenever you come back home from the sun. For making a tan removal mask you can take 1 tbsp of curd and add to it 1tbsp of gram flour and some drops of lemon juice. Apply this all over your tan affected area or face and leave for 20 minutes or until it dries completely. Wash off with water.

4. Removes dark circles

Curd has hydrating and skin brightening properties which is a good combination for removing dark circles. You can take 1 cotton pads cut it into 2 halves and dip it into some curd. Apply these cotton pads under your eyes and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse off with normal water. If you have severe dark circles just add 1tbsp of gram flour and 1/4 tbsp of wild turmeric and 1 tbsp of curd. Mix them well. Apply it under your eyes and leave for 15 minutes. Wash it off with water. Use this remedy for at least 15 days regularly for best results.

5. Reduces Acne

With its antibacterial properties, curd helps in reducing acne and pimples. Curd has probiotic bacteria that can kill acne causing germs and also maintains skin’s pH balance keeping more acne away. It also has soothing properties for inflamed acne. Take 1tbsp of curd and mix with 1/2 tsp of lemon. Apply it on your clean face. Wait for 10 minutes or until it dries. Wash off with cold water. You can replace lemon with honey or egg white if your skin feels too dry after applying it with lemon. Use it at least thrice a week for best results.

6. Reduces Wrinkles

Curd firms your skin and reduces wrinkles. It is an excellent food for your skin and a natural cleanser. It has anti-ageing properties which helps in reducing wrinkles. Take 1tbsp of curd and add 1/4 tsp of wild turmeric into it or you can take 1tbsp of curd and add 1/2 tbsp of olive oil to it. Massage gently on face and let it dry for 10 minutes. Rinse it off with normal water.

7. Reduces pore size

Lactic acid present in curd helps exfoliate dead skin cells and reduce pores. If skin is exfoliated regularly and moisturized properly then pores get reduced and also helps in prevention of acne, bacteria and reduces signs of ageing. Take 1 banana and mash it properly. Add 2 tbsp of curd to it. Mix them well to form a fine mixture. Apply it all over your face and let dry for 20 minutes. Wash it off with cold water. Banana mixed with curd has some amazing skin tightening properties which helps reduce pore size.

Apply any of these hair or skin masks regularly thrice a week for best results.

  1. I’m guessing curd is the same thing we call yoghurt in Britain? I used to use yoghurt on face and scalp a long time ago… it does have some amazing results. It’s great for the stomach too if you’ve had a bad effect from taking antibiotics, it can restore all the negative results. I found recently if I don’t use water on my face, cleanse only once in 24 hours, use very gentle natural based oil free baby wipes to remove make up and a fairly rich natural moisturiser, I don’t need to use yoghurt any more, or facial scrubs. It’s saved me a lot of time and money.

    I’ll have to try it on dark circles… I definitely have those!
