Today I am going to discuss about natural face scrubs. Facial scrubbing is an essential part of skin care routine. It exfoliates the skin and helps to make the skin smooth by removing dead skin cells.
Why are face scrubs important?
Our face is one of the most sensitive areas of our body, therefore it requires the most attention. The cells on our body regularly shed to reveal new, healthier skin underneath. But dirt and pollution clog the pores of the skin. Scrubs unclog pores and removes dirt, blackheads, dead skin and other impurities so that healthy skin may flourish. I personally uses a lot of natural scrubs which not only cleanses my skin but also rejuvenates it and moisturizes it. I am going to share all these amazing and healthy scrubs with you in this post which you can easily make at home.
1. Coffee Scrub
Coffee has many benefits for skin. It is known for reducing the appearance of cellulite on skin. It’s antioxidants provides calming effects on skin. It is a rich source of Vitamin B-3 which helps to prevent cancer. Applying coffee helps decrease the appearance of sun spots, redness, fine lines, inflammation and pigmentation.
You can make your easy homemade coffee scrubs in following ways:-
1• Take 1tsp of coffee powder, 1tsp of sugar, 1tsp of honey and 3-4 drops of rose water. Mix it well. Clean your face with lukewarm water before applying it. Apply it all over your face scrubbing gently for 3-4 minutes. Wash off with normal water.
This face scrub also moisturizes your skin and gives the skin a glow. The presence of honey makes it antibacterial. Sugar helps in exfoliating the skin and rose water helps maintain pH balance and cleans the pores. For best results apply it thrice a week or use on alternate days.
2• Take 1tbsp coffee powder, 1tsp sugar and 1tbsp Olive oil. Mix it well. Apply all over your clean face scrubbing gently for 3-4 minutes. Wash off with normal water. Olive oil has anti-aging antioxidants and provides moisture to your skin.
3• Add coffee powder to your body wash or face wash and then use it like a scrub. If you do this daily you will see amazing benefits on your skin. It will exfoliate your skin and rejuvenates it.
2. Oatmeal Scrub
Oats are healthy when consumed but also have amazing benefits if applied on skin. They are rich in antioxidants, proteins and lipids which makes it a good moisturizer and reduces itching and inflammation. It’s healing, moisturizing and antioxidant properties makes it effective in soothing sunburn.
Oats are a natural skin cleanser and also exfoliates the skin. It also helps to remove the dirt and oil that clog the pores.
The scrub can be made in the following ways:-
1• Take 2tbsp of oats, 1tbsp of honey and 1tbsp of curd. Mix well and scrub your face gently for good 4-5 minutes. Then wash your face with normal water. Curd helps in reducing wrinkles and fine lines, moisturizes the skin, fights acne, removes blemishes and pigmentation and treats skin infections. Honey gives a natural glow on skin.
2• Take 2tbsp of oats, 2tbsp of raw milk. Mix well and use it as scrub for 4-5 minutes. Milk has Lactic Acid which helps reduce pigmentation, heals dry skin, hydrates skin and heals sunburn.
3• Just add water to your oats and use it as a scrub. You can use this scrub daily also. Oats is sufficient with water also to scrub your face if you don’t have much time to mix it with other ingredients.
3. Green Tea Scrub
Green tea is becoming the famous ingredient of cosmetic companies. It is beneficial for skin as it contains antioxidants that helps to enhance skin health. It is anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and reduces lines, wrinkles, sunburn and rashes. It also helps in the treatment of oily skin and clears clogged pores. It is known for exfoliating and rejuvenating the skin and gives the skin a natural glow.
Here are some green tea scrubs that you can make at home and get healthy skin:-
1• Take a green tea bag soak it inside a cup of hot water. Now take the bag out of the cup and tear it and take out the green tea leaves (If your leaves are not in a tea bag then just add 1tbsp water in 1tbsp green tea leaves to make it moist). Add 1tbsp of honey to it and 1tbsp of olive oil(optional). Mix it well and massage it all over your face gently. Scrub for 2-3 minutes and leave it on your skin for 5 minutes. Now wash off with normal water. If this face scrub is used regularly after every alternate day then it will help to reduce pimples, acne, dark spots and age spots.
2• Take 1tbsp green tea leaves and add 1tbsp curd to it. Mix it well and apply all over your face scrubbing gently for 3-4 minutes. Leave it for 5 minutes and wash with normal water. Using this face scrub regularly will remove dirt and pollutants from skin and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
4. Rice powder Scrub
Rice is used by Asian women as their beauty regime for centuries because of its amazing benefits on skin. Rice powder has anti-ageing properties and works as a natural sunscreen. It prevents skin from sun tan and soothes sunburn. Due to its oil absorbing properties it helps in reducing acne and make the skin soft and smooth. It removes dead cells tightens the skin and gives it a natural glow.
Following rice powder scrub could be prepared at home:-
1• Take 1tbsp of rice powder( You can make the rice powder by grinding the rice). Now add 1/2tbsp lemon juice to it and 1tbsp of rose water. Mix it well and apply it all over your face scrubbing gently in circular motion for 3-4 minutes. Now wash it with clean normal water. Lemon is a rich source of Vitamin C which helps in brightening the skin and lighten your skin tone. Rose water works as a natural toner and removes the oil and dirt clogged in the pores. You can also add some honey if you want to get some instant glow.
2• Take 1tbsp of rice flour/powder and add 1tbsp of curd to it. Mix well. Apply on face scrubbing gently in circular motion for 4-5 minutes and leave it for 5 minutes. Wash off with normal water. This scrub will give you an instant glow.
3• Take 1tbsp of rice powder and add 1tbsp of raw milk to it. Apply it all over your face and massage gently scrubbing in circular motion for 4-5 minutes. Now wash off with normal water. Milk helps in hydrating the skin and reduces pigmentation and heals acne.
5. Tomato scrub
Tomatoes are antioxidants that reduces open pores and blackheads making the skin cleaner and tighter. It reduces oiliness, lightens dark spots and exfoliates the skin. It’s scrub is the easiest to make.
1• Take half a tomatoes puree and add 1tbsp sugar to it. Mix it well. Apply it all over your face scrubbing gently for 4-5 minutes. Wash off with normal water. You can also make it by cutting half slice of tomato and sprinkle some sugar on it and use this slice of tomato directly on face as a scrub. This scrub gives you natural glow and helps to remove blackheads and cleans the skin properly.
All the homemade scrubs mentioned above will only be effective if used on a regular basis. Scrubs should not be used daily but on alternate days or thrice a week. If you want better results use any one of the following scrubs on a regular basis.
